Pakistan's parliament has elected Mr Shahbaz Sharif as the country's new prime minister, after Mr Imran Khan was ousted in a no-confidence vote. Mr Sharif is a veteran politician. The 70-year-old served three terms as the chief minister of Punjab, which is home to more than half of Pakistan's 190 million people. During his tenure, he was seen as a capable administrator who executed infrastructure mega-projects, including Pakistan's first modern mass transport system in Lahore.
