Peripheral Vision and Central Vision in the Retina
The retina - the light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye - has two areas. The peripheral retina gives us our wide, or peripheral vision. The macula is a small area in the center of the retina that gives us our pinpoint vision that allows us to see detail clearly.
