Experimenting with two new additions to the early-1990s Premier Signia kit; an Avedis Zildjian Raw Crash and a Sabian Will Calhoun Signature Alien Disc, 10"/25cm.
The Raw Crash is like a rolled-out piece of pastry before you make it into a pie. It's basically halfway through the production process, missing the steps of shaping/hammering over a former, trimming to a circle, lathing (which is where the sound of the cymbal really comes out) and further hammering.

Recorded on two older model Tascam field recorders, one of which you can see behind me on the white pad. The other is out front of the kit, a couple of metres away. There's also some sound from the camera mic. So just room sound, no close mics.
Most of the cymbals here are Avedis Zildjians, 1960s through 1980s vintage. The 20" China on the top left of screen is a Sabian AA, and the gong out of shot above me is a 1950s 20" Zildjian tam-tam.
I can't imagine anyone wanting to see more of this stuff but, just in case, the unedited version of this clip is here:    • DrumFuckery no.278_A Zildjian Raw Cra...
