Three of the most common chords used in music are the “I-IV-V” of a key signature. These chord degrees establish the largest group of chords that are included in songs across all music styles.
Unfortunately, when it comes to playing them on guitar, players only tend to perform the “I-IV-V” in a couple of ways across the guitar neck. The two most popular of these ways are open position and barre chord patterns.
When it comes to alternate ways of playing the “I-IV-V” there is another way to approach it on guitar. If you do not know about this alternative method, you are missing out. How does this alternative method work? No need to worry, we will answer that in this lesson.
Performing a “I-IV-V” in an alternative way is simple and easy to do. In this lesson you will learn an exercise plan for the “I-IV-V” that has the ability to deliver a smooth and highly melodic sound.
The lesson outlines how to perform the “I-IV-V” across the entire fret-board by applying bass notes from the most popular guitar keys of “E, A and D.” Low open strings are matched with the correct harmony of upper strings to dramatically increase the melodic effect of the “I-IV-V.”
