Representative David Trone discusses his campaign for U.S. Senate with 7News
Rep. David Trone has spent more than $40 million of his own money on his run for the Senate. He is airing seemingly non-stop TV and radio ads. According to new campaign finance reports the Maryland Senate race has become one of the costliest in the country.
Trone said he’s willing to spend even more.
“This is a real opportunity,” said Trone, “To really move the needle in a much bigger way. In all the areas I’ve been so focused on in three terms in Congress.”
Trone grew up on a farm. Then built the liquor store chain Total Wine & More into a retail giant with his family. Polls show him with a lead over his main primary opponent Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks despite some recent bumps in the road.
