Install NetBSD 10.0 RC 3 in QEMU VM, LXQt desktop and KDE 5 apps tutorial - January 2023 - 2bce9c86
I install NetBSD 10.0 RC 3 in a QEMU VM. I install KDE 5 apps and the tigervnc VNC server.
Notes:
Survival at the command line
pkgin install mc emacs-nox11 bash
chsh -s /usr/pkg/bin/bash
chsh -s /usr/pkg/bin/bash administrator
VNC connection
pkgin install tigervnc

chmod 0600 ~/.vnc/passwd
vncviewer 192.168.122.42:1
GUI survival
pkgin install lxqt
pkgin install noto-cjk-fonts noto-emoji-ttf noto-fonts noto-ttf
cat ~/.vnc/xstartup
Should be:
#!/bin/sh
exec startlxqt
In the Virtual Machine (VM):
vncserver :1
On the host computer:
Install tiger VNC client and run:
vncviewer 192.168.122.42:1
A VNC viewer GUI app starts, inside runs the VM and the Desktop Manager lxqt.
You can resize the VNC client window and the resolution of the X server inside the VM will change.
Copy/paste of text between VM and host works OK.
In the VM install the needed KDE apps:
pkgin install kate konsole krusader
