After binge-watching the Kung Fu Panda Trilogy, I can't help but dislike Oogway and feel bad for Shifu and Tai Lung, and here's why. When Oogway said Tai Lung wasn't the Dragon Warrior, Shifu stayed silent out of respect, even though he disagreed. But what about the other side of the coin? Shouldn't a teacher also have a duty to guide their students properly? Shifu and Tai Lung were both flawed but sincere. Shifu did his best to train Tai Lung, even though he made mistakes. Tai Lung, in turn, sincerely worked hard to learn from Shifu. Oogway, however, failed in this aspect. As the master of the Jade Palace, he must have known how Shifu was training Tai Lung and the mistakes being made. Why didn't he step in? His failure with Tai Lung ultimately led to his downfall. This makes Oogway a big failure as a teacher and master, failing to guide Shifu and other students properly.
