"My Mother Told Me (Song of the Vikings)" is a song from the Assassins's Creed Valhalla Soundtrack (also known from the Vikings Series). In a way it is a sea shanty, so I wanted to release this right after my "Wellerman" cover. "My Mother Told Me", however, has a more serious and mature vibe to it, so I wanted the instrumental to resemble viking metal a lot more, while the vocals should still keep the harmonies, that make sea shanties come alive.
The Song of the Vikings, though, should go another path with its vocal harmonies than "Wellerman" did - the harmonies should create subtle friction without busting the song with it and make the song be a little more chaotic without losing its structure in the process.
All in all this version of "My Mother Told Me (Song of the Vikings)" should hold a resemblance to its historical origins while still being enjoyable and fitting into an Assassin's Creed Valhalla scenario.
