Release is how the compressor releases the compressed vocal or Instrument.
Release is how a compressor should release it's Compression to the vocal.
Think of someone who grabs you on the roof from falling but then since you want to get down, instead of just let you go, you get released slowly until you reach the ground.
Ratio
Is like a dosage you give to a patient. Small dosage, the better you will feel. Too much dosage, that is an overdose and die. Too much ratio can kill the vocal or destroy. The quality fades away.
Threshold.
It is like an aeroplane, when you push it, the plan takes off and besically, the threshold starts the compression.
