Zoom and in-person training was held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 3:40-5pm in a hybrid format via Zoom or in-person at the Academic Innovation Studio in Dwinelle Hall.
This intermediate-level training discussed two topics in depth. First, it discussed how the Slurm scheduler worked and how to use it effectively to get jobs to run as quickly as possible, including jobs that used parallelized code and jobs that used GPUs.
It also discussed the use of Conda (and Mamba) to install software (including, but not limited to, Python packages) in a reproducible and isolated fashion. For both topics, it covered a variety of tips and tricks that would help better utilize Savio and similar HPC systems.
