Discover the viral journey of TikTok's "Bombastic Side Eye" sound, a catchy phrase and sarcastic motion that's amassed millions of views. The sound gained traction in February, first posted by the account @whatareyoulookingatbabs and later skyrocketed by @4kmmxv's clip, which alone garnered over 38 million views.
The original creator, Malaika Norman (TikTok handle @lmfaomal), crafted the sound without the Vine booms and has over 110,000 followers. Her version gained even more fame when it was used by celebrities like Kim Kardashian and her daughter North West, and it's now associated with a hashtag that boasts over 700 million views on TikTok.
In an interview with the Daily Dot, Norman explained that the viral sound came from a "stitch" that completely "flabbergasted" her. She "accidentally created a viral phrase" which has even made its way to the Urban Dictionary! Despite the fame, she mentions, "A lot of people still don’t know it’s me, but those who do say it to me almost every day."
