Apocalyptic Abandoned Railroad Crossing

This is at the SW 280th Street RXR on the unused part of the CSX Homestead Subdivision just South of Miami, FL. In this video, you will see some pictures of when the gates were in place. They were eventually removed and the signals folded (somewhat). This track was built in 1926 by Seaboard Air Line to bring Passenger Trains to the area. It even connected with the Miami extension of the FEC Overseas Railroad en route to the Florida Keys and Key West until the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane destroyed it. It later became a freight line. The last time a train used these tracks was in 2016 to remove stored rail cars. Join me for some archaeology in South FL!
