Clothing in The Long Dark is a more nuanced mechanic that first meets the eye. To survive The Long Dark, you'll need to stay warm, and clothing is the primary way you do this! Clothing not only has warmth value, but also several other buffs and stats that affect how good each item of clothing is. Keeping in mind the different stats of the clothes and what your primary and secondary need with clothes is, you can select the outfit and gear that will supplement your run the best!
If you find yourself struggling with wolves, and surviving the encounters, perhaps checking out your protection stat and picking a wardrobe that buffs that out will help! If you find yourself plenty warm but with never enough room to carry all you need to, perhaps you should shed a few layers of clothes!
