Installing DD WRT firmware on a router
Do to the back door hacks like "moon" and others, I have devices connected to the net. like security cameras that I can watch on my cell phone. I have removed the compromised firmware.
And replaced it with DD-WRT router Firmware It opens up all the routers settings, Like adjusting the wifi strength from 1-254 milliwatts. I set mine at 50 mw, I don't need to broadcast it all over the neighborhood. This will also allow it to run cooler and take less power from my Solar batteries in a grid down scenario. Even with out the internet I can use it to stream my cameras to my cell phone over wifi.
