The all new Audi A5 (Sedan/liftback and Avant), A4 successor, has new generation hybrid drive system to lower the consumption especially in a city. Although Audi calls it as a "Mild Hybrid Plus" (MHEV Plus 48V), it actually works like a full hybrid (HEV - self-charging hybrid). The system allows not only cruising and stopping at traffic lights with the combustion
engine off (possible with the Mild Hybrid), but also driving (e.g. in traffic jams) and
even accelerating to around 60 km/h (~35 mph) in electric mode only.
It has also an electric AC compressor, like regular HEV.
