Having seen the beautiful subtitles from this video • 愛して愛して愛して 歌ってみた／宮下遊 I was inspired to try making some myself and, well, I think it went decently well. I have a few other dynamic subtitles, so, guys, if we hit 100 likes, I'll upload another one, which I think is cooler, so you better get to clicking :)
If you're having issues with the subtitles, it might be one of these:
Weird style - The Subtitles should either be black with a white outline during the chorus or white everywhere else. If this is not the case, go to the player's Settings, then select "Subtitles/CC", then select "Options" in the top right. If you click on any of these settings, for example "Font style", then in the top right, you should see a button called "Video Override". This should be set to "On". If that doesn't work, you can also try resetting the subtitle settings, by clicking the "Reset" button in the "Options" page.
Lag - not much I can do about it. I think youtube doesn't give a lot of resources and optimization for subtitles, so when you throw a coupled hundred at it, it lags. From my experience, closing tabs and other programs does help. You can also try enabling "Always Prefer AV1" in here / account_playback which helped me a bit. If the video still lags too much for you, you can see the recording of the program I used to make this, which has cleaner subtitles, but worse video quality: • abnormal subs aegisub version
