People, what do you know about Mexico? That it's a country in Latin America that borders the United States? That it has delicious food and beautiful beaches? I have already told you in my previous episodes that the country is actually ruled by cartels that control entire cities and states. This is a country where police officers drive around the city with machine guns deployed - always at the ready, because on the neighboring streets in the backs of pickup trucks are hiding scumbags - cartel bouncers.
Today I'll tell you how I dared to drive into the territory of real thugs during my trip to Mexico. I'll be honest, I wish I hadn't read what the press wrote about them. And how I managed to record an interview with a cartel boss who, in order to count the cache for the goods sold, weighs truckloads of bills on scales because it's dumbly faster than counting machines.
People, I had no idea this trip would turn out to be one of the craziest of my entire life. The thing is, I went there right in the middle of a new drug war.
