Heidelberg in southwest Germany is known for the Heidelberg University, founded in the 14th century. The city has a nice old town together with a large student population and even a castle.
We start our walk on the Old Bridge and walk towards the old town from there. We see the Heidelberger Marktplatz (old market square) and other squares like the Universitätsplatz with the mensa. We walk the Hauptstraße eastwards and return to the old town to walk up to the castle.
It is a bit of a steep path up to the castle where we end this walk. It is worth going further up to the Schlossgarten where there is a nice view over this town.
