How to Run Python Code on Ubuntu
Do you know how to run Python code on Ubuntu?
Talk about esoteric. Why not just Linux?
Ubuntu is one of the major Linux implementations.
I know that, but it is one of the niches. If you want to write Python code on your Ubuntu system, you should probably install the python2.x as well as the python2.x-dev or development packages.
I heard you should use an IDE to work with Python.
You install IDLE by entering the command sudo at-get install idle-python2.4 or whichever version you want.

IDLE is an Ubuntu compatible editor.
What if I do not want to use the IDLE package?
Then your other option is with the command line.
How do I use the command line for programming with Ubuntu?
The command line version of Python comes with the Ubuntu Linux package.
If it is there, I haven't found it.
You can access it by going to applications, accessories, terminal before typing in python to the command line.
If I write Python code via that method, I'll have a decent Ubuntu app.
Python code runs on any OS if you write it right. You ought to read a few of the basic Python programming books to get a feel for the language.

Read basic idiot or dummy guides to Python before reading on Python programming specifically for Ubuntu. Then you're more likely to create programs good for any operating system.

I don't dare ask which is better. That's like a holy war online, with sys admins having more faith in their particular solution than many religions receive.

After all the tools are installed, then what?
Try the classic Hello World program and go from there.
I'm not going with Google's programming language Go if they paid me.
I meant, that's a good starting project. I'd never tell you to embed yourself deeper with Google.
