Coppa and the FTC are creating big change on YouTube "Made for kids" content. How does that affect me? In a big way.

The rules are so loose and arcane that in affects everyone - music videos, pranks, cooking, beauty, as well as the obviously made for kids content. If you don't declare your as made for kids - in the yes of the federal trade commission and who knows what that actually means? - creators are liable to a $42,000 fine! I thinks this the FTC are about to become vexatious litigants, harassing innocent creators and putting them all out of business, so that kids only have inappropriate material left to watch and have recommended to them.
Where does this leave me? A lot poorer off for a start. my $500 a month Youtube income - way below minimum wage for the hours I put in - could go down to a quarter, if I'm lucky.

But I have a plan. It is clear to me now that the law and corporations do not want creators to make a living entertaining or educating kids, so I'm giving up. As of 14:02 today this channel will only make videos for grown-ups who want to know about or learn about drawing and to follow my drawing journey.
