Volodymyr Shpitsa Sr. is soon to turn 57. Now he is in the Donetsk region. He makes his bed every morning, saying: "My grandfather taught me this from childhood. It's to have a good day." Then he goes for a morning run, washes himself, and goes to work. Accepts reports from his brothers-in-arms.

Volodymyr Shpika Jr. serves in the headquarters in Lviv — this year the soldier was transferred from the Eastern direction. The men are from a military dynasty, both passed the ATO.

"The most important thing is people. Weapons and equipment without people are just a bunch of metal. People must be protected," says Shpika Sr. He covered different times of the army: the USSR; the first years of the Independence, when the army was looting; the beginning of the Anti-Terrorist Operation, when the army was unprepared for the attack of the russian federation; the transformation since 2016 and new difficult challenges and losses after February 24.
