Fight Racism, take action, reform the police, speak up in acts of racial injustice. If you would like to take action during this crisis you can do so here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/ms_...
Let's Fight Racism together, make art showing the violent acts that need not be forgotten. Speak up and call out people who are racist. Speak up in the name of injustice. Speak up if you hear someone saying "Oh they deserved it they should have just listened to the police". Speak up against police injustice when they abuse power. Speak up when you know that someone shows they would rather live in a world where others are closer in their race. Speak up and use your voice any time you see an act of true racism. Your voice as an artist is one of the powers you have and we are all born with the freedom to express ourselves, the choice is yours.
At first I wanted to stay neutral with this particular video completely to NOT upset anyone, but I really do respect your viewpoints and have taken them into deep thought, if you believe me or not is simply up to you as a free person.
I am not against BLM, or George Floyd and the events that happened sicken me to the core. The purpose of this video is to showcase the feeling of the people in the protests that happened during the 2020 BLM protests. I think that this is an important time in history and that it's equally important to document this movement with the power of art and expression. We all have a voice as artists.
You probably already know that George Floyd was horrifically and inhumanely killed by police. I decided to make art based on these images to commemorate George and as a record of this time in our collective history.
I originally wanted to not make this "politicized" and simply wanted to showcase the unjust actions of police and commemorate George Floyd's image as an icon of this time period alone.
The killing of George Floyd was atrocious. I simply wanted to highlight the injustice happening with the severe police brutality occurring. The image of the woman with a mask surrounded by police says it all...she is afraid and rightfully so...because there is a problem with the police abusing their power against peaceful protests. The protesters have an inherent right to voice their free voice without being silenced with force.
Derek Chauvin, and the rest of the police involved need to be imprisoned for life.
I never have had any ill-intentions by re-painting these photographs as painted versions. I simply thought that it would be a great way to add George Floyd's memory to the creative coding art world.
I truly want more people to be aware of how you can make art with code and decided that making content that was actually meaningful to the spirit of our times was a good thing to do.
This video has no monetization, and I have not made any money nor do I plan to make money from this video.
If you don't agree with my message you have the right to disagree and I am sad that is so but I am not against BLM, or George Floyd in any way. Again, I simply wanted to not make this video heavily politicized so that we can just appreciate the image itself as art, as an expression of our times and truly come together from a place of solidarity and highlight an problem of ethics, rights and justice happening today.
If you truly feel that you want to make a difference go donate! and Speak up when you see an act of racial inequality :)
If you would like to take action during this crisis you can do so here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/ms_...
They wont teach you this on most colleges...why? No not a conspiracy theory but because most art colleges don't know how to do it themselves...
