Like many people, I love Candles in my life. Unfortunately, burning anything in the house for hours on end may not be the best things for our lungs. Thankfully LED based candles have been on the market for years now. Unfortunately, there’s been no reliable way ( at least in the Apple ecosystem ) to be able to control those candles as part of your Apple-based Smarthome setup.
Thankfully Switchbot has finally given me a solution to a problem that I’ve been trying to solve for a few years. The days of looking for remotes when setting up a candle lit family movie night are over!
Strictly speaking, this solution isn’t Apple Homekit compatible as the Switchbot Mini hub doesn’t have Homekit compatibility at this point in time ( see the videos above ways to get the Switchbot Mini Hub into Homekit using Hoobs and Homebridge ). Thankfully Switchbot DOES support Siri Shortcuts and when we use that with a spare iOS device hanging around we can use personal shortcuts to be able to set time-based automations to enjoy the flickering lights and still save batteries!
