These all represent the lies we tell ourselves every day.
Human beings. We are a funny (peculiar) species. We love to think of ourselves as uniquely well endowed with the gifts of logic and the virtue of grace.
BUT the facts are simply this: we act and move as a mob. We find comfort in numbers. We hide in the plain sight of the mob. We camouflage ourselves in anonymity.
The lesson of history is this: we are an irrational, intolerant and unforgiving species. At our most primal, when faced with imminent danger, we default to our most BASIC INSTINCT.
And for those that dare stand outside the veil of anonymity, we caricature them and make fun of them. In ancient times we would have lynched them or burnt them. Today, we turn them into memes and TikTok videos. We dehumanise them.
We turn them into pariahs!
This means then it TAKES REAL COURAGE to stand alone in the spotlight of your individuality.
Stand for something.
Stand firm.
Stand!
