Picking the right shooting or drive mode is crucial if you want to capture the moment... And if you truly want to master your camera, there are the drive modes you MUST know how to use.
1️⃣ Single Shooting — Your go-to anytime you shoot handheld and don't need to capture rapid-fire burst images.
2️⃣ Continuous Shooting — Continuous shooting is the way to go anytime you need to capture images in a burst. Many cameras have multiple types of burst mode, depending on how rapidly you need to capture images.
3️⃣ Self-Timer (Single) — This is the best mode when shooting on a tripod. When you press the shutter, you may slightly move the camera, resulting in a blurry image. Using the self-timer will cause the camera to wait a couple seconds before firing, resulting in a sharp image.
4️⃣ Self-Timer (Continuous) — While this isn't a mode you'll probably use frequently, it comes in clutch when you're photographing the ocean. This mode works like the self-timer, except that it will fire a continuous burst after the timer is up. For scenes like an ocean, it's nice to capture multiple images to choose the best-looking exposure.
5️⃣ Bracketing — Bracketing is a mode designed to be used in scenes with high dynamic range where you'll need to blend multiple images to capture the full range of a scene. Most cameras have numerous different modes when it comes to bracketing, but my favorite is the mode that gives you three images at 2.0EV.
Pick the right mode to ensure you capture the perfect moment next time you're out shooting!
