PowerToys offers a fantastic utility called FancyZones for splitting your screen into customizable layouts. Here's how to use it:
Prerequisites:
Make sure you have PowerToys installed. You can download it from the official Microsoft GitHub page: https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys.
Steps:
Launch PowerToys: Open the PowerToys application from your Start Menu.
Navigate to FancyZones: In the PowerToys window, find FancyZones from the listed utilities on the left-hand side and click on it.
Open Layout Editor: Within the FancyZones settings, click the button labeled "Launch layout editor".
Choose Your Layout: The layout editor will display various grid options. You can choose from templates like Rows, Columns, a Grid, or even a custom layout. Each option allows you to specify the number of zones and their relative sizes.
Adjust Spacing (Optional): You can adjust the spacing between zones using the "Space" slider in the editor.
Apply the Layout: Once you've chosen your desired layout and adjusted spacing (if needed), click the "Apply" button.
Using FancyZones:
Snap Windows: With the layout applied, open the windows you want to use in split-screen mode.
Drag to Zones (Holding Shift): While holding down the Shift key, drag each window to its designated zone on your screen. The window will snap to the zone's boundaries.
