Welcome and welcome back to this channel, this is Jay from Alissa & Jay. Today I am excited to share, some of my opinions about several different cameras and lenses that we had the opportunity to play with during the ZoomCamera fair in Thailand. This fair happens every 6 months - once in March and again in October of every year. So if you are someone like me who likes to play with the latest and greatest cameras and lenses and if you are staying in Thailand, you can consider visiting there. Since I have a lot to talk about, I split this entire experience into multiple videos. This video is just one part of a series of videos yet to come or already available in the playlist. You can check out the playlist on the channel “ZoomCamera Fair March 2024”. Now let’s get to the content.
In this video, I share my opinions of the photos I shot using the 50mm F1.2 lenses from Nikon and Canon. I shot these photos on the left using Nikon ZF with Nikkor 50mm F1.2 and the photos on the right using Canon R6 mark ii with Canon RF 50mm F1.2 lens.
In my opinion, these camera and lens combinations perform great. The sharpness is very similar. The autofocus was close to perfect. It comes down to the user preferences and let’s talk about that.
Weight and balance:
Nikon ZF weighs 40 grams more than Canon R6 mark ii. The Nikkor 50mm F1.2 lens weighs 140 grams more than the Canon 50mm F1.2. The Nikon combo weighs 180 grams more than the Canon combo. This weight will be significant during a full day of shoot. But surprisingly, I noticed, that the Nikon ZF with 50mm F1.2 lens is much more balanced than the Canon R6 mark ii with RF50mm F1.2. which felt front-heavy. So, I would totally go with the Nikon combo.
Handling:
Of course, the Nikon ZF doesn't even have a grip to hold while the Canon R6 mark ii is a comfortable-to-hold camera. Still, I would rather use a Nikon 3rd party grip for the Nikon ZF combo as it feels much more balanced.
White balance:
The Nikon produces warmer images while the Canon produces cooler images. Which one you like, it is up to you. I like the images from the Canon while my wife like the images from the Nikon.
If it were me, I would go with the Nikon combo as I am a Nikon fanboy. The Canon combo is no slouch. I love the images out of the Canon combo and it was quite pleasing and sharp. You will not go wrong purchasing either of them. It is just your personal preference.
Weight info:
Nikon ZF: 710 grams
Nikkor 50mm F1.2Z: 1090 grams
Nikon Camera + Lens: 1800 grams
Canon R6 mark ii: 670 grams
Canon RF 50mm F1.2: 950 grams
Canon Camera + Lens: 1620 grams
