#1) Type Of Board
• What will you be using this paddle board for?
This determines the shape and conditions of the paddle board
Surfing, Touring, Racing, Fishing, Yoga, Wild water paddling Etc
• Do you want a Inflatable or a Hard Paddleboard?
• Will you be taking your young children or dog on it?
#2) What Size?
• One of the most important specs when choosing a size of board is the Width of the board, Your Height and the Volume of the board.
• Width effects the speed, stability, and outline shape of the board.
• The wider the board the more stable it is but in turn creates drag underwater. (That’s why Racing SUPS are narrow)
• Your All-Round Paddle Boards as they are called should be 28-36” in Width and 10”-12” Long
• Wider boards are also good for beginners and thicker boards are good for the heavier riders.
• Lets talk Volume- Lets face it “You don’t want to be on a board that doesn’t have enough volume to float you”.
• Volume is the Calculation of Length x Width x Thickness
• For beginners – Multiply your weight by 1.1 to 1.4
• Example: If you weigh 180LBS PLUS your equipment is 10LBS, so total of 190LBS. Ideal Volume is 185L – 258L
#3) Transportation #4) Storage
• Inflatable Paddle Boards occupy less space than long boards and are easier to transport.
• Lighter boards will get used more because its more convenient for majority of us.
• Inflatable boards are more durable than hard boards
• But depending on the material of a Hard Board- it can be durable just as much but has the con of cracking
• Hard Boards are fast and Easy as well. Setting the paddle board up and pumping air can take 15-20 mins, so it depends on the user.
• Hard boards are faster
• With Kids and Dogs- I would recommend an Inflatable.

• Good Material Paddle Board costs average $800 up
