In the 1970s, Cliff Maag Sr. (Founder of Mäag Audio) could not afford an expensive API or Neve console. As a result, he got together with a friend to build his own console. Using a bright C7 microphone as a reference, Cliff found a way to add air to microphones while avoiding harshness.
