An Oscar winner who became a legendary actress in the moviemaking world of all time, Julia Roberts was interested in acting since teenage years even though she first dreamt of becoming a vet. Having finished school, a future film star moved to New York, where her sister was an actress. Due to her help Roberts started getting minor roles until The Steel Magnolias in 1989 and Pretty Woman a year after. There wasn’t even one critic who wouldn’t praise the actress’s talent, acting skills as well as predict her brilliant future. The incomparable movie star with the most effulgent smile in the Hollywood, Julia Roberts, deserved to be loved due to her exceptional acting. Julia’s father, Walter Grady, who was a salesman, met Betty at an art production and in 1955 they got married. When Julia was four, the parents divorced, so she didn’t experience what it is like to grow up with the biological father. Walter passed away to throat cancer at 44.
Meanwhile, the mother Betty Lou remarried a man named Michael Motes and within four years they produced a baby. However, the marriage wasn’t happy, since Michael turned out to be addicted to alcohol which literally ruined a family life and led to a divorce after 11 years. Betty herself did her best working at a full-time job and raising kids on her own. She died from lungs cancer in 2015, aged 80.
The Runaway bride actress has a brother Eric, who is also an actor. He had been living with the father as he hated Betty’s new spouse. However, the brother-and-sister relationship always remained close. Their bond was ruined when Julia took sides of Cunningham in a custody battle of her and Eric’s child. In such a way, two people who previously shared a really tight bond, became estranged siblings. However, they reunited when Robert’s twins were born.
Lisa Roberts Gillan is a sister to a famous film performer. Like Eric and Julia, she is also into the moviemaking industry, working as an actress. Apart from that she is also a producer.
From mother’s second marriage, there was also a half-sister, Nancy Motes. She had been suffering from depression for a long time and as a result, committed a suicide at 37. Before doing that, she left a note vividly describing how the award-winning actress, Roberts teased her about her size and how awful the treatment from depression was. She also left many bad posts and comments on social media, blaming the Ocean’s Twelve actress of her death. She was found dead in a bathtub by her fiancé. It was later stated that she died to a drug overdose.
As for the star’s personal life, her first husband was a country singer Lyle Lovett. Of course, before him she dated a number of men, yet walked down the aisle with Lovett for the very first time. What seemed to be real love, started fading more and more just after two years of married life. In the end, they filed for a divorce and walked separate ways in 1995.
During the shooting of The Mexican, the actress met a cinematographer Daniel Moder. At that time, Moder was married and Roberts was dating. However, the chemistry between the two was so strong that they left their partners and tied the knot in 2002. Ever since then, the couple has been living together, parenting three kids they have produced. Nonetheless, there are rumors that the marriage is almost broken and no one knows how long more it can withstand.
The couple’s first children, fraternal twins, Hazel Patricia and Phinnaeus Walter were delivered in 2004. Soon after their birth they were already on the cover of People’s magazine. Hazel was featured in a movie the Mother’s Day in 2016, while Walter is more into fashion.
In 2007, the family welcomed a wonderful addition, a son Henry Daniel. Same like Walter, Henry enjoys everything that is connected with fashion. All three kids are growing in a friendly and warm atmosphere far from the social media.
