Distrobox tutorial for beginners - October 2022 - 409042c0
I install Distrobox, which allows you to run inside a container, popular Linux distributions. The container is highly integrated with your hardware/host machine: you use your user, your home directory, many configuration files are bind mounted, you can run GUI (X11 and Wayland) apps, your sound devices etc. It can use unmodified dockerhub container images. It runs systemd and you can install most of the packages from the Linux distribution that runs inside the container.
With distrobox, I can do most of the things that I do in a virtual machine.
