Canadian Pacific Derailment on the Branch! Plattsburgh Industrial- Freight Car in the Ditch!
On February 22nd, 2023, Canadian Pacific Railway local freight G51 (Plattsburgh, NY-based local) derailed two covered hopper cars as it shoved its train of loads west over the Plattsburgh Industrial Track. This line is the former Delaware & Hudson Ausable Branch/Chateaugay Branch, with the derailment occurring at Salmon River Junction, the switch between the two branches. The train was on its way to switch South Junction Enterprises, a transload facility that provides rail-to-truck solutions for local industries such as Schluter Systems. Amerigas, located across South Junction Road, is the only other customer on the branch.
