Rishi Sunak has rejected a characterisation of the Treasury when he was chancellor as 'pro-death squad'. The expression was attributed to Boris Johnson in a diary entry by Chief Scientific Adviser Sir Patrick Vallance, but Hugo Keith KC did not say the term was used by Johnson himself when he asked Rishi Sunak about it. Responding to Keith, Sunak told the inquiry: 'I do not think it is a fair characterisation'.
