1. **Right-click on the Desktop**: Click with the right mouse button on an empty area of your desktop to open a context menu.
2. **Select Display Settings**: From the context menu, select "Display settings." This will open the Display settings menu in the Windows Settings app.
3. **Scroll Down and Click on "Advanced display settings"**: Scroll down in the Display settings until you see the "Advanced display settings" link. Click on it.
4. **Choose a Display**: If you have multiple monitors connected, choose the monitor for which you want to change the resolution from the dropdown menu under "Choose a display."
5. **Select Resolution**: Under the selected display, you will see the "Resolution" section. Use the dropdown menu to select the desired resolution from the available options. The recommended resolution is usually marked as "(Recommended)."
6. **Apply Changes**: After selecting the desired resolution, click on the "Apply" button to apply the changes.
7. **Confirm Changes**: A pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm the resolution change. If the new resolution looks good, click on the "Keep changes" button. If the new resolution is not satisfactory, you can wait a few seconds for the resolution to revert automatically or click the "Revert" button.
8. **Close Settings**: Once you're satisfied with the resolution settings, you can close the Settings app.
Remember that changing the display resolution can affect how elements appear on your screen. Higher resolutions provide more screen real estate but may make text and icons smaller, while lower resolutions can make text and icons larger but may reduce screen clarity. Choose a resolution that balances your preferences and the capabilities of your monitor.
Keep in mind that if you choose a resolution that your monitor doesn't support, the screen might go blank or display an "Out of Range" message. In such cases, wait a few seconds, and the resolution will usually revert to the previous setting automatically.
