MEMO speaks with Dr David H. Warren discussusing the rivalry between prominent religious figures which is shaping the region today through the Arab Spring and Gulf crisis.
Dr Warren is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Washington University in St. Louis. His research examines the politics of the Muslim scholarly-elite, the ulama, with a particular focus on the Gulf States. He is the author of 'Rivals in the Gulf: Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, Abdullah Bin Bayyah and the Qatar-UAE Contest Over the Arab Spring and the Gulf Crisis.'
