The action of the story takes place in Lithuania in the years 1938-1946. In this terrible period, nobody could be anybody sure because I didn't understand where your, and where someone else. Amid this tragedy unfolds the romantic story of max (Rinal Mukhametov) and limes (Julia Peresild). Once they wanted to live life together, but their plans for the future destroyed the Second world war. Max, a young man from a Jewish family, together with the rest of the Jews falls into a death camp, where he miraculously manages to survive. However, on returning to his hometown he discovers that the father of the limes was an accomplice of the Nazi regime, so a happy reunion of the lovers occurs.
He narrowly escaped death to return to the house where he was born. In the house where now lives the love of his life. But hope for happiness turns into a horrible discovery. His girlfriend — the daughter of his enemy.
