Aviation Training for Volunteer Firefighters, NT Australia
Koolpinyah Volunteer Fire Brigade , #HowardSprings, Humpty Doo Volunteer Fire Brigade and Virginia Bees Creek Volunteer Fire Brigade had a great day meeting with BFNT members that we will be working close with throughout the fire season.
Bushfires NT provided an opportunity for BFNT and NTFRS volunteers to learn more about the capabilities and limitations of the aerial firefighting resources contracted by Bushfires NT for the 2022 Top End fire season.
The course covered:
Firebombing aircraft capabilities, specifications and limitations;
Dispatch, response and operations;
Communications; and
Fire ground safety with firebombing aircraft,
and was followed by an opportunity to view a firefighting aircraft close up and #XOAviation aerial display of a range of drop patterns that may be used on fire grounds this season.
