GE Digital User Conference: BHP Asset Performance Management Journey

BHP is focused on establishing world-class maintenance practices as part of its new operating model, as realization of maintenance excellence represents one of the best opportunities to reduce cost while increasing production and value. To deliver this objective, BHP has formed the global Maintenance & Engineering Centre of Excellence (MECoE).
BHP provided GE with an opportunity to implement Asset Performance Management(APM) system that will enable the MECoE to partner with Operations to deliver safe, sustainable improvement in equipment performance through the main areas Strategy Management, Defect Elimination and Asset Health & Analytics. The primary purpose of the APM Enterprise Solution is to support the MECoE to achieve 5% increase in availability and 30% decrease in total maintenance cost. BHP embarked on the APM journey in September 2017 and has just completed the third phase of the project. During this journey of more than three years, GE and BHP has partnered in a very professional manner to ensure that the principal objective of the APM program is achieved. In this session, Mr. Sharma will present BHP’s APM journey, in a snapshot, and detail BHP’s enterprise asset application perspective.
About the speaker:
Arun is an Experienced SAP EAM expert with verifiable track record of delivering SAP EAM implementation, support and Roll-out Projects. He has industry experience in Chemicals, Mining, Utilities, Container and Shipping with a focus on SAP EAM and its integration.
A multi-skilled SAP professional with strong Functional expertise. Very capable with an ability to identify and then deal with a client’s needs by translating them into appropriate solutions. Experienced in providing motivation, guidance and develop and articulate solutions and lead the team. His experience covers all phases in SAP implementation assignment, design, build, test and deployment, by using the SAP delivery methodologies and tools.
Arun has been a strong pillar during the Front End Loading, Implementation and Delivery of GE APM Solution within BHP and currently leading the DevOps team for BHP for all Enterprise applications portfolio which includes GE APM.
