The Red Scare is one of the few events in the history of the United States that has repeated itself twice. The First Red Scare, offset by a post-WWI America and fear of communism in the wake of the Bolshevik Revolution, concluded in 1920, only to become reinstated in the late 1940s through the early 50s. In this video we look at the influence of Republican senator Joseph McCarthy of Wisconsin, and his effect on America in the opening phases of the Cold War.
