Two major kinds of Corneal Diseases or more specifically corneal ulcers are discussed in this online clinical ophthalmology lecture which is further categorized into subtypes. Starting from the neurotrophic keratopathy causes which are considered a trophic corneal ulcer, it is discussed that it can be congenital or can be acquired. For the ease of medical students, its Pathogenesis also comes under consideration which begins by damage to sensory nerves and progression leads to ulceration.

To combat this illness, medical students, junior doctors, professionals, and even patients would like to know the neurotrophic keratopathy treatment which can be accomplished by conventional treatment, special treatment, amniotic membrane transplantation, and lateral tarsorrhaphy. Furthermore, exposure keratopathy is another trophic corneal ulcer whose causes include extreme Proptosis, ectropion, and Bell’s Palsy. This ophthalmology education also highlights a range of peripheral ulcerative keratopathies. One of its types is PUK associated with Connective Tissue diseases which arise either due to Rheumatoid Arthritis, Wegener’s granulomatosis, or polyarteritis nodosa.

Another type that is explained for medical students is Mooren’s ulcer which is formed at the edge of the cornea. Rosacea Keratitis is also a subject of discussion among the variety of keratopathies. Its clinical features encompass yellowish-white marginal infiltrates, small ulcers, and chronic blepharoconjunctivitis. That’s not enough, the trophic and peripheral corneal ulcer treatment is described in detail with respective disease to give in-depth understanding to medical school students.
