Robert was a legendary supervillain from a long line of villains, and he made quite a name for himself in the villain world. After divorcing his wife Marlena, they agreed never to see each other again, with Robert taking Dru and Marlena taking Gru to raise separately. Robert eventually built his career in Freedonia, where he owned the largest pig farm, which was just a front for the family's real business—villainy. Even though they were separated, Robert kept an eye on Felonius and was very proud of his accomplishments. However, he was disappointed in Dru, seeing him as a failure in the world of villainy, despite Dru's determination to keep the family tradition alive. Robert eventually passed away under unknown circumstances, but there’s a theory that Robert might still be alive and could return in Despicable Me 5 to take revenge on Gru. After discovering that Gru has left villainy behind, Robert might come up with a genius, evil plan to force him back into the life of crime, or else.
