If you find 4 specific codex entries in the Fade, the Inquisitor can discover on their own that Solas is Fen'Harel and later, when you confront him, there's an extra dialogue option.

The required codex entries are these :
Elven Mountain Ruins: The dead qunari on the shore
Deep Roads: On crate before ladder blocked by purple fire
Library: Note next to chest blocked by purple fire
Darvaarad: Self Portrait of the Dread Wolf
