This short movie shows the MERS Coronavirus Spike protein’s surface. Initially, a neutralizing antibody named CDC2-C2, isolated from a MERS convalescent patient, binds to the Receptor-Binding domain on the top of the Spike. Multiple other neutralizing antibodies then bind to the Spike at different locations. These antibodies are binding to multiple sites-of-vulnerability on the Spike glycoprotein. The other neutralizing antibodies are JC57-14, G2, and G4. These antibodies may help researchers develop tools to prevent or treat COVID-19.
