About Acute corneal hydrops (ACH)
Acute corneal hydrops is caused by the acute disruption of Descemet's membrane in the setting of corneal ectasia. Hydrops is a term used to denote an abnormal accumulation of fluid in a body tissue or cavity. It can cause impaired vision and eye pain. Acute corneal hydrops occurs in approximately 3% of patients with Keratoconus and presents most commonly between 20 and 40 years of age.
About Patient
Mr. Sunny Kumar (24) is from Gaya, Bihar.
He was suffering from Keratoconus in his right eye. As the cornea becomes weak due to Keratoconus, the internal layer of the cornea ruptures and aqueous fluid of the eye accumulated in the cornea and caused swelling and whiteness which impaired his vision.
He underwent full thickness corneal transplant at Eye7 Eye Hospitals, Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi.
Fortunately, his vision in his right eye has improved to 6/18 which is actually a huge success.
