In this talk, you will learn about the process of building a serverless Slack bot using Google Cloud Functions (Gen1). You will learn about the technologies used, including Terraform as the "infrastructure as code" tool, JavaScript/TypeScript as the programming language, and Google Cloud Functions as the serverless computing platform. There will be a demo showcasing how the bot can welcome new Slack users and react to Slack posts with emojis.
The speaker will then peel the layers of using Google Cloud Functions Generation 2, its integration with Cloud Run, challenges with logging, and IAM permissions required by these services.
Additionally, you will learn how to use Github’s OpenID Connect (OIDC) provider between Github Actions and Google Cloud Workload Identity Federation to automate Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) pipelines.
