🌡️ Hello! Hi everyone! 🌡️
In today's tutorial, we dive into the world of NTC thermistors and connect them to the versatile Arduino Uno. NTC thermistors, or Negative Temperature Coefficient thermistors, act as temperature sensors by altering their resistance with changes in temperature. Our goal is to read the ambient temperature in a room, around a specific component, or even along a pipe.
🔍 Understanding NTC Thermistors:
Before we begin, it's crucial to comprehend the resistance characteristics of the NTC thermistor. We demonstrate how to identify whether it's an NTC or PTC sensor by measuring its resistance. Hint: NTC sensors exhibit a decrease in resistance with rising temperature, while PTC sensors do the opposite.
🛠️ Building the Circuit:
To create a bridge, we pair the NTC thermistor with a fixed resistor. We locate a 10kΩ resistor and use a simple breadboard for testing. Watch as we connect one end of the thermistor to the 5V on the Arduino Uno, link the other end to ground, and attach the signal to analog pin A0.
💻 Writing the Arduino Code:
After successful wiring, we proceed to write the Arduino code to read and display temperature values. Check the video for a quick demonstration of how the temperature reading changes when the thermistor is touched to generate heat.
