Rita Barlow Church, Eric's mother, leads a private life. She is occasionally seen at music ceremonies. Eric considers Rita to be the toughest woman he has ever met. He was also elected Student President. He had a daughter named McKenzie Anne Church before he passed away at a young age from alcohol seizure sickness.

Eric got married to Katherine Blasingame in 2008. Katherine was born in 1979, in the USA. She works as a music publisher and lives in North Carolina with her family. During their marriage ceremony, Eric – being a romantic – expressed his vows through a song titled "You Make It Look So Easy". Katherine is known to have a huge heart for charity as she participates in The Chief Fund Foundation.
The couple has two kids.
Born in 2011, Boone McCoy is the first child. His early life was described in Eric's song "Three-Years-Old".
Tennessee Hawkins Church, the second child, was born in 2015. His name "Tennessee" was coined from Katherine's birthplace. His name "Hawkins" was decided after the couple saw an eagle fly at their property.
