Fast Fords arguably hit peak in the 1980s, when turbos were noisy and spoilers were big. The wild child Sierra Cosworth might’ve been a touring car and rally success, but its three-door body limited practicality. The Sapphire Cosworth introduced more space, as well as the 4x4 variant that made it an all-weather weapon to challenge the Lancia Delta Integrale. The Fiesta RS Turbo was less subtle, introducing a Garrett turbocharger and racy green trim to the lukewarm XR2i to create an unsubtle hot hatch to battle the Renault 5 GT Turbo. Finally, the loved but flawed Escort RS Turbo S1 was revied with the Mk4 Escort RS Turbo Series 2, could it tame this rally-homologated beast? We brought together these rare, valuable and retro Fast Fords to find out which is best!
