Shadow Bands of a Solar Eclipse On Snow
Shadow bands are brief phenomena that occur for a few seconds during total solar eclipses, just before and after complete totality. They are not rare but they are faint and extremely hard to view, especially on camera. I had the good luck to experience totality in a forested glade with fresh snow that acted like a projection screen. I have enhanced contrast to help them show up better on camera. An interesting thing about shadow bands is you can only see them in motion. If you pause the video, they will vanish.
