We share some very simple approaches to being able to clone hardy kiwi using an approach layer style of propagation. In the spring, burying a main stem in compost, soil, sawdust, sifted wood chips, sand or really any medium and allowing the new green growth to push through it and be in contact for an extended period promotes a very strong new rooting, although it takes some time. By the fall or perhaps even the next year, each buried shoot will have been able to develop roots on their own timing and be ready for separation...
